Of course, there are always last-minute deals if you need to get somewhere as soon as possible. But if you can hold off booking until the right time, you might be able to save some serious cash. When to Book Flights for Domestic Travel?
When booking flights domestically, the cheapest time is Wednesday at 3 PM to Sunday at 3 PM EST. Most people don’t travel, so fares are lower, and more airline seats are available. Looking ahead and booking early can also save you much money on tickets. For example, an American Airlines flight from Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) to New York City-John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK) on December 22, 2018, with a departure at 5:45 PM and an arrival at 8:05 PM, costs $370 if booked by September 30, 2018. While if it’s not booked until October 1 or later, the same flight will cost $510. Alternatively, one can fly from DFW to JFK on the 23rd at 6:30 AM for $339 or even as late as Christmas Eve for just $260! It may be more convenient for some to book a little earlier, but for those who want low prices, plenty of great deals can be had at any point in the year. For example, if looking on the West Coast, one could fly from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to John Wayne Airport (SNA) on November 27, departing at 11:00 AM PST and arriving around 2:00 PM PST for only $243. Again, it may be tempting to book earlier, but these last-minute deals have been selling out fast this season, so waiting too long might mean missing out on saving big time!
When to Book Flights for International Travel?
