Step 1: Download an empty Template.

You’ll need to download a template to create your also bill of lading. An empty template will have all the necessary fields and information you’ll need to include in your document. You can find plenty of them online. Once you’ve found the one you like, download it and open it up in Excel.

Step 2: Enter your information.

Enter the business name in the name field shipping the goods. Next, also enter the Address section’s street address, city, state, and ZIP code of the business or individual. Furthermore, enter a contact phone number for the business or individual in the Phone Number field. Next, enter a contact email address for the business or individual in the Email Address field. Further, enter a brief description of the goods shipped in the Description of Goods field. Next, in the Weight field, enter the approximate weight of the shipment. Finally, enter an estimated value for the shipment in the Value field.

 

Step 3 – Fill out the vessel details

  1. Fill out the vessel details. The vessel details will include the ship’s name, the port of departure, the port of destination, and the estimated arrival time. Furthermore, you will also need to include the dimensions of the cargo and the type of cargo being shipped.

 

Stage 4 – Add remaining details like shipper, consignee, and quantity

  1. Now that you have the basic information filled out, it’s time to add more details. In the Shipper field, enter the name of the person or company sending the goods. In the Consignee field, enter the name of the person or company receiving the goods. And in the Quantity field, enter the number of items being shipped.

 

Step 5: Save it as a PDF or Word Document.

Saving your bill of lading is important, so you have a record of it. In addition, you have an option to save it as a PDF or Word document. To do this:

  1. Go to File> Save As.
  2. In the same window, choose where you want to save the File and give it a name.
  3. Select PDF or Word from the drop-down menu next to Save as type.
  4. Click on the Save, and your document will be saved as a PDF or Word document.

 

Step 6: Print it out as a shipping document.

After all the pertinent information is entered into your Bill of Lading template, the next step is to print it out as an official shipping document. Here are seven easy steps to follow:

  1. Go to File > Print.
  2. Under Printer, select the Printer you want to use.
  3. Choose how many copies you want to print in the Settings section.
  4. Check the Scale to Fit Paper checkbox if you want your document printed on multiple pages.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Your Bill of Lading will now print out!

 

Step 7 – Email it to your freight forwarder/freight company

Emailing your bill of lading to your freight forwarder or freight company is an important step. It will ensure they have all the information they need to ship your goods. Here’s how to do it

 

Step 8: Email it to your client(s) if you have any shipments coming up.
