Enneagram types

The Enneagram system uses different personality types that help people better understand themselves and what motivates them. The exact origins of the Enneagram system are a bit murky, but researchers note that its roots trace back to South American philosopher Oscar Ichazo in the mid-20th century. The Enneagram is a model of personality that outlines nine distinct personality types. These nine types are outlined by three different characteristics, creating 27 combinations.

What is the Enneagram?

The Enneagram is a personality framework that helps people understand themselves and others. It consists of nine different personality types, organized into three groups: the healthy triad (wings), the average trio (turning points), and the unhealthy trio (compulsives). The Enneagram is both a theory and a tool for self-understanding.

Enneagram types: Explanation 

 The nine types are as follows:
1) The Reformer
2) The Helper
3) The Achiever
4) The Individualist
5) The Investigator
6) The Loyalist
7) The Enthusiast
8) The Challenger
9) The Peacemaker. Most people fall into one of these categories; however, you can also fall into more than one category.

 1) The Reformer

The Reformer is the most eager to get things done and is also known for being the most decisive of all the enneagram types. They need to be in control and are not afraid to take risks. When they see something that needs to be done, they’ll jump right into it without hesitation. The Reformer is also very analytical, decisive, and determined.

2) The Helper

The Helper is the most selfless of all the Enneagram types. Helpers are charitable and generous with their time and resources. They take care of everyone else’s needs before they take care of themselves and often put off their desires to help someone else. The downside of this type is that they can be taken advantage of and end up exhausted. In addition, there is a tendency to feel guilty when they don’t give more than they should, which means that Helpers sometimes neglect their own needs out of a sense of responsibility for others’ feelings.

3) The Achiever

Achievers thrive on success and take pride in the hard work they put into their accomplishments. They are often highly motivated, confident, and competitive people who enjoy being busy. They may also be seen as materialistic or power-hungry, but this is not always the case. Achievers need to feel that they have control over their environment to keep a sense of security. This type makes excellent leaders because they are usually self-assured and know what it takes to accomplish goals.

4) The Individualist

Each individual is born with a unique personality not necessarily recognized by others. The Enneagram personality test helps people understand their characters and how they can work on themselves to become their best version. One who takes this step will find greater confidence in themselves and a deeper understanding of their morals and values. This will lead them to success in all aspects of life, as they can pursue what they want without feeling guilty or conflicted about it.

5) The Investigator

The Investigator is the seeker of answers and truth. They constantly look for hidden meanings and connections that others may not see. In addition, they enjoy working alone, doing projects, and thinking about complex problems. They need to have their own space to work on these projects because they need a lot of time to process information to find patterns or the next big idea. 

The Investigator’s motto is Knowledge is power. They believe that the more they know, the more control they will have over their lives. When faced with a problem, they tend to get stuck in analyzing all of their options instead of taking action because they want to be sure that what they choose is best for them and those around them.

6) The Loyalist

The Loyalist is the most loyal type of all of the enneagram types. They are willing to go out of their way to ensure that those around them are taken care of. They will do anything in their power to stay by your side and expect you to reciprocate. The Loyalist expects a lot from those around them, but it does not mean they don’t appreciate it in return. Instead, they take care of the ones who need it most, often without looking for any form of appreciation or reward. 

The Loyalist tends to worry excessively about things, leading to emotional ups and downs. This can cause them trouble trusting others because they have been burned before by others’ lies and betrayals.

7)  The Enthusiast

The Enthusiast is your go-getter. They’re people who will do anything and everything they can to make a dream come true. They’re always on the move, trying new things, and are constantly looking for ways to improve themselves. The Enthusiast thrives in fast-paced environments with lots of change because it’s challenging for them and gives them something to look forward to. When they feel stagnant or bored, they’ll plan everything they could do instead and get excited about future possibilities. Overall, The Enthusiast is an ambitious person who will work hard to achieve their goals and have fun doing it!

8) The Challenger

Challengers are the type that is always trying to improve themselves and help others do the same. They’re often successful in life as they don’t let anything stand in their way. However, when they don’t get what they want, Challengers tend to have trouble letting it go, which can significantly cause stress. They also tend to overthink things, leading to anxiety and fear.

9) The Peacemaker

The peacemaker is the person who wants to help everyone get along and is always looking for ways to resolve conflict. This type is often referred to as the mediator or facilitator. The peacemaker strives for balance in everything and tries to keep everyone happy. They may be seen as pushovers because they often accommodate other people’s needs, but this isn’t necessarily the case. The peacemaker tends to be indecisive because they want everyone to be happy and likes to please people. These individuals must have their own opinions so they don’t lose themselves in others’ desires.
